Cocker Colors

 

I find it interesting when pet people are looking for a Cocker and they don’t know
how to explain what they are looking for or that they come in all kinds of colors and coat types.
I hope this page helps fill in the gaps.
This page is for educational purposes only and none of these dogs/puppies are for sale.
Some of the dogs are owned by others and photos provided by others.

Here is my non-technical terms as follows.
Solid- A solid color dog in any color/pattern which can have white on chest and/or throat
Parti- -Two or more solid, well-broken colors, one of which must be white in any color/pattern combination that can include tan points or not.
Tan points can be very light and they can be very bright.

Colors that mean the same thing-
Brown and Chocolate are the same things
Tricolor is the same as a blk/white/tan is the same a black tri

Ch. Aj’s Neville Longbottom- Neville –
Tri-color aka Blk/White/Tan some also may say black tri
Tan Points are usually found above the eyes, inner ear, cheeks, behind the tail.
Tan points can fade away and can lighten most do not.

Ch Che-Lee’s Radio Flyer- Carson – Black/white

Legacee’s Let’s Have A Ball – Lucy- Red/white

 Red/white liver nose
Usually, have green eyes as they are genetically brown/white and should produce
brown if breed to another dog that carries for brown.

Tell-Tail’s Chuck Berry- Chucky- Brown/White
Some call Chocolate and Brown the same thing.

Rumor is Choc/tri or Chocolate/White/Tan some may call it a brown tri
Some call Chocolate and Brown the same thing.

The difference between a closed marked parti-color and open marked parti-color

1/2 face a cocker spaniel with or without eye rims with a lack of color around the eye.
